Daily programs blend teacher-directed and child-initiated activities based on play and experience learning and are supported by developmentally appropriate practices. At EACN the question is not “Is your child ready for the center?” But rather, “Is the center ready for your child?” The teachers in our program understand the concept of individual learning styles and prepare for a variety of children and developmental levels.
EACN participates in an early-intervention inclusion program for children with identified special needs. We partner with ASPIRE of WNY and have the expertise of a fulltime special education teacher, an assistant and a classroom aide as well as the services of a speech therapist, a physical therapist and an occupational therapist.
INFANTS & TODDLERS – Infant and toddler programming revolves around loving hands on care. Infants are held, rocked and talked to. Music and stories are an integral part of the program. Toddlers are given the opportunity to test their wings, in a safe and caring environment through exploration and discovery. The non-walking infants experiences bonding and trust through the caregiver’s speech and touch.
POST-TODDLERS & PRE-SCHOOL – Centers such as dramatic play, reading, blocks, science, and art are utilized to promote group play as well as opportunities for more solitary activities. Children learn the finer points of group dynamics such as cooperation, sharing and respect by trial and error, with minimal teacher intervention. The child who requires time alone or in a small group may choose the “quiet corner”, reading or art to pursue a more individualized activity.
